Busselton SHS has a long history of delivering high quality VET programs with very strong links with the local community. All VET programs provide students with the opportunity to achieve a Certificate II qualification and Secondary Graduation. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) School with scope to issue qualifications in a range of industry areas including: Business, Engineering, Sport Coaching, and Kitchen Operations. The school also delivers qualifications in Building and Construction and Community Services. The school has access to the Trade Training Centre on site with state of the art facilities for delivery in Engineering, Building and Construction and Kitchen Operations.
Busselton SHS has been a finalist at the State Training Awards (VET in School) for several years, winning the award in 2014. This is a reflection of the unique structure of programs at the school, with a high level of support provided to students to ensure positive outcomes for future work and/or training.
Workplace Learning is an integral part of all VET programs and supports students in making a successful transition to employment or further training. Local employers are very supportive of our workplace learning program often utilising the program to source future employees.
The VET programs are coordinated and delivered by a highly dedicated team of VET Trainers/Assessors. Each staff member has additional qualifications in training and assessment, a qualification in the industry area and a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure delivery of current industry practices. Coordinators maintain strong partnerships with local employers from their respective industry areas.
